Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She has covered several notable news stories throughout time, including fiscal reform, the budget, and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
